Sharkfin padded restlessly back and forth in a small clearing where he was supposed to meet Snowpaw for her first training session. He settled himself down in a clump of grass, angry with his first Apprentice for being so late. "When I get ahold of that unworthy Apprentice I'll claw her ears off!" He growled to himself, not being his usual 'happy-go-luck' self today. He flicked his stormy-gray tail on the grassy ground, bringing nothing up but a few crickets. Her narrowed his piercing yellow eyes, digigng his claws impatiently into the soft ground.

Snowpaw padded out of the apprentice's den, beautiful as always. Her fluffy white tail held high in a warm greeting, a smile was stuck to her face, since it would be her first training session. "Sharkfin Sharkfin! What am I gonna learn first?" she asked cheerfully, almost literally jumping up and down with excitement filling her paws.

Sharkfin spotted Snowpaw, her glossy white fur shining and her tail perked up and waving. "Where in StarClan's name have you been?" Sharfin hissed, his back fur prickling and his eyes lit on fire. "First of all, calm down." He instructed, digging his claws into the soil. "I'm going to teach you the basics of fighting, and if you're not too tired or weak form just one training session, we'll start with the basics on hunting fish." He meowed, knowing he was going to work her paws off. "And tomorrow we'll get up a bit after dawn and start with the basics on hunting land prey, and so on so forth. You'll be a Warrior in half the time." He said, flicking his tail to head towards the river.

"Sorry, it's just so exciting! I was sleeping in the apprentice's den." she explained as she bounced off. The forest scents filled her nostrils and, just in the distance, she could hear the river flowing. Waiting for her mentor to catch up, she sat down and looked around at all of the beautiful scenery.

Sharkfin shook his head, bounding swiftly to catch up with his new Apprentice. He finally caught up with her, seeing the rivering flowing straight ahead. He skidded to a halt a few fox-lenghts away from the river, meeting Snowpaw's gaze. "Now, leap at me. Just try it first and we'll go from your mistakes." He meowed, tensing his muscles to move at any second.

"Ok!" the eager little apprentice smiled. She sprang at her mentor, a little reluctant. She knew it was part of her training, but it just didn't feel right to pounce on another cat, especially your own mentor! But ah well, if he told her to do it, it'd be fine.

Sharkfin swiftly moved to the side, easily avoiding Snowpaw. "First, you need to hold the element of surprise." He meowed, flicking his tail from side to side. "Try not to show when you're going to pounce, aim it, and do it with effort, not carelessly." The dark ash tom instructed, lining up again, waiting for Snowpaw to pounce. "Remember everything I've told you from this day on, and trust me, it will come in handy some day." He meowed, swaying slightly from side to side, realizing this was just how his Mentor had taught him, and knew he would be proud.

"I know, silly!" she smiled. She crouched down, and then she sprang up, pushing herself off the ground with her back paws. She flew through the air until she came down in a pounce. "How was that, Sharkfin?" she asked, hoping she impressed her mentor this time.

Sharkfin decided to ignore Snowpaw's comment and went straight to work. "That was much better." He half-smiled, a little glint of hope shining in his eye for this Apprentice. "Try it one more time and then we'll move on to two others and then we'll do the basics on hunting." He said, positioning himself for the next pounce.
